In July 2009, While a resident at Saltonstall, I spent my days between the Colony and Eco-Village Ithaca. During my time there, I volunteered as a gardener and house-sitter in order to meet the community.
My search for EVI began on a long distance bicycle ride in the Willamette Valley, OR. While riding thru wildness, suburban and industrial landscapes, I longed to find a community that tried to embed itself within the ecosystem.
When I returned from Oregon, I started to search for a sustainable community closer to my current home (Syracuse, Ny.)
My partner has since referred to Ithaca as our mistress city. Known instantly as gorges, Ithaca, NY is a west-coast minded city lost in-between the glacial finger-lakes.
EVI is a 110 acre parcel of land developed to house three communities. Each houses approximately 30 families. My images are an investigation of places of this place.
